Health Care Worker in Texas Has Ebola
In what seems to be the first transmission inside US, a
Health Care worker who treated Thomas Eric Duncan tested positive
to the virus. Eric died last week in Dallas after a battle with Ebola virus.
The worker at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas reported a
low-grade fever Friday night and was isolated, the health department
said. A blood sample tested positive at the state public-health
laboratory in Austin late Saturday, and a confirmatory test is being
conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in
Atlanta.
It will be recalled that Thomas Eric Duncan, an Ebola patient
died Wednesday 8 after contracting the disease in Liberia.
He visited the hospital’s emergency room on Sept. 25
complaining of symptoms including head and
abdominal pain, but wasn’t admitted that evening.
He was sent home with a prescription for antibiotics.
He was admitted on Sept. 28, when he returned in an
ambulance sicker. He was diagnosed with Ebola on Sept. 30.
The health worker has been put under check.
