Health Care Worker in Texas Has Ebola
In what seems to be the first transmission inside US, a Health Care worker who treated Thomas Eric Duncan tested positive to the virus. Eric died last week in Dallas after a battle with Ebola virus. The worker at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas reported a low-grade fever Friday night and was isolated, the health department said. A blood sample tested positive at the state public-health laboratory in Austin late Saturday, and a confirmatory test is being conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Ebola virus Atlanta. It will be recalled that Thomas Eric Duncan, an Ebola patient died Wednesday 8 after contracting the disease in Liberia. He visited the hospital’s emergency room on Sept. 25 complaining of symptoms including head and abdominal pain, but wasn’t admitted that evening. He was sent home with a prescription for antibiotics.
